CIA buys the news

Udo Ulfkotte's expose of how the CIA uses the corporate media to promote disinformation is being suppressed. The publishers of the English translation, Tayen Lane, have clearly sabotaged the book. It does not even appear on their website. Amazon lists the book as unavailble (one does not need to be a cynic to note that Jeff Bezos has a six hundred million dollar deal with the CIA). Used copies of the book are reportedly changing hands at over a thousand dollars.

When the book was originally published in German, despite being an immediate best seller, it was completely ignored by the corporate media. There were no book reviews, no publicity, no discussions.

The sabotage of the English translation by the publishers is a clear breech of contract. However, Tayen Lane, have little to fear as Udo conveniently died of a heart attack in January, after he had repeatedly stated that his life was in danger.

Udo's book, Journalists for hire: How the CIA buys the news, is perhaps one of the most important acts of whistleblowing in history. The CIA's strategic control of the corporate media renders democracy a sham. The book deserves the widest possible audience.

Shortly, after the original publication the book, Udo appeared on RT. You can view the interview here.

It’s a lost cause – this whistle-blowing stuff. The Unabomber is still languishing in jail for trying to save the world.

    Sounds like defeatism.

Not at all. Sun Tzu – in the Art of War – never starts a fight that ends in defeat. Why pit yourself against the enemy before you define it? What is it that you want?

In two sentences you explicitly deny it is defeatism and tacitly admit it is defeatism.

“Not at all. Sun Tzu – in the Art of War – never starts a fight that ends in defeat.”

By the way, it is not a war. It is simply a matter of insisting on accuracy and holding the corporate media to account for their lies and propaganda.

It has nothing to do with defeatism. I am pointing out the aimlessness of your cause. There is always something out there to protest against. The world is a chaotic mess because everybody is fighting for a cause. Hitler was a good example. We never seem to learn.

What has wanting information to be accurate got to do with Hitler?

        2. jaageet

Hitler wanted justice. So do you, and all the terrorists in the Holy Land.

          1. stevehayes13

“Hitler wanted justice…” This is such an amazing characterisation, I suspect you are trolling.

            1. jaageet

Come on. You can do better than that. Stick to argumentation, man. If you see a flaw in my reasoning, point that out. Talk about accurate information.

            2. stevehayes13

Me: “What has wanting information to be accurate got to do with Hitler?”

You: “Hitler wanted justice. So do you, and all the terrorists in the Holy Land.”

If this looks like logical argument to you, there is nothing I can do to help you.

              August 01, 2017
            3. jaageet

Ok, perhaps I was not clear enough. You want information to be accurate. Why? Because you are miffed by the state of the world on account of some folks out there not playing by your rules of fair play. Hitler felt the same way too and he had the power to do something about it. If you have the power, you won’t be moaning about the CIA on the internet. You would put the fear of God in the CIA and wipe it off the face of the earth.

              August 02, 2017
            4. stevehayes13

No, I wouldn’t. Your comparison is risible and is clearly projection. The way to deal with disinformation, propaganda and lies is by critical exposes.

              August 02, 2017
            5. jaageet

Critical expose? Who is listening? If you succeed in drawing attention, you would go the way of Udo. Look at Snowden. And that guy holed up in that Embassy in London. What’s with you people?

              August 02, 2017
            6. stevehayes13

              More of your defeatism.

Snowden and Assange have made significant differences, as can be seen by the fact that the CIA hate and fear them.

What’s with us people – we are committed to human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

              August 02, 2017
            7. jaageet

It’s not defeatism. This world is like a plane in the grip of violent turbulence. Could you just stay in your seat, clip on your safety belt and stay quiet instead of asking for bad luck?

              August 02, 2017
            8. stevehayes13

You say it is not defeatism and immediately advocate quietism as a response to the sociopaths in positions of authority, power and influence, which is precisely defeatism.

              August 02, 2017
            9. jaageet

It’s not quietism either. I am as pissed off as you are with sociopaths in positions of authority, power and influence. Unless I understand what makes humans behave that way and can eradicate the cause completely, I refrain from contributing to the madness. You are practicing Hitlerism: trying to bring about a better world but making it worse.

            10. stevehayes13

Comparing me to Hitler is absurd hyperbole.

              August 03, 2017
            11. jaageet

Why hyperbole? Each of us is like everybody else: different notes on the keyboard of evil pounding out the same eternal tune of human pain.

              August 03, 2017
            12. stevehayes13

I no longer suspect you are trolling. I am convinced.

            13. jaageet

              Trolling for what?

              August 03, 2017
            14. stevehayes13

I am now supposed to think you do not know the meaning of the word troll?

              August 03, 2017
            15. jaageet

Not really; although, you are not the first person to call me that ever since I came on the internet looking for a conversation. Those who don’t like what I have to say would call me a troll or something nasty.

              August 03, 2017
            16. stevehayes13

I am not using it as a pejorative. I am simply forced to the conclusion that you are trolling because you are not presenting sensible, relevant argument.

              August 03, 2017
            17. jaageet

Then point out where the flaws are in my statements. Demonizing me as a troll is not an objective way to invalidate what I said.

              August 03, 2017
            18. stevehayes13

You are not saying anything remotely sensible or relevant. I have already pointed this out.

The only thing I would assert is that it’s not just the CIA, every major intelligence agency of every nation with one manipulates the media as far as they can. It’s perverted, but it’s not unique to the CIA.

    August 01, 2017
    1. stevehayes13

Claiming someone else also does it, is no defence.

      August 01, 2017
      1. Munkyman

Not putting it forth as a defense. It’s not even a good explanation, it’s just a statement of the nature of “intelligence” agencies & those who suppose to control the thoughts of others in general.

That’s exactly what I mean. You hold a British passport but doesn’t give a shit about the Queen. We have folks like you in the USA: people who enjoys the protection the country provides but condemn its institutions and founding values. Fareed Zakaria is a prime example.
